Scholars Hall · The Booking Guide
How booking works
Everything you might wonder, in plain words — and if yours isn’t here, our concierge is a message away.
What this is
What is a consultation, exactly?
It’s a free 45-minute video call with one of our mentors — no lesson, no cost, no obligation to sign up afterwards. It’s where we get to know your child: what they’re working on, where they’re stuck, and how they learn best. You leave with a clear, honest picture of how we’d help — even if that turns out to be “not yet” or “here’s what to try first.”
Does it cost anything, or lock me into lessons?
Neither. The consultation is completely complimentary, and you decide afterwards whether lessons make sense. There’s no card, no deposit, nothing to cancel.
How long does booking take?
About three minutes. There’s a short two-minute quiz (optional), then you pick a mentor, choose a few times that suit you, and add your details. That’s it — we take it from there.
The Mentor-Match quiz
What is the quiz, and do I have to do it?
It’s five quick steps, about two minutes, that help us pair your child with the mentor who fits how they learn, not just their grades. It’s completely optional: if you already know who you’d like, tap “Skip — I’ll pick my own mentor” at the top and go straight to the booking page. Nothing is lost.
Why bother filling it in?
Because the right mentor makes the first lesson land. Two children can both be “stuck in Maths” for completely different reasons — one races ahead and gets careless, another freezes on the hard question. The quiz tells us which, so we recommend the mentor who’s brilliant with your child specifically. The more you share, the sharper the match, and your answers carry into your request.
What do the questions actually ask?
Gentle, everyday things — the subject and level, what happens when your child hits something hard, what they’re great at, and (optionally) anything about how they learn. No test scores, no jargon. Just a quick portrait of your child as a learner.
The optional “how they learn” step
There's a step asking about learning differences — should I fill it in?
If any of it fits your child — yes, please do. This is the single most useful thing you can tell us. If your child has a diagnosis (dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalculia), a support need, or simply learns differently, sharing it means we staff the right mentor — someone trained for it — and they walk into the first lesson already prepared. If nothing comes to mind, just say so and move on; it’s genuinely optional.
Will ticking a box label my child?
No. Nothing here is a diagnosis and nothing goes on a permanent record. It simply tunes how we teach and who we recommend. It’s seen only by the small team preparing your consultation, and you can view or change it any time from your hub.
My child is bright but struggles in one area — is that worth mentioning?
Absolutely. “Smart everywhere but spelling never sticks,” or “great in conversation, but it doesn’t come out on paper” — those details are gold to a mentor. High-IQ kids with a specific gap are exactly who this step is for.
Choosing a mentor
How do I pick a mentor?
Tap the mentor dropdown and choose. If you did the quiz, we mark our top pick Recommended and a strong runner-up Also suited — but you’re free to choose anyone. Tap “View full profile” to read about them first.
What do the “Limited slots” and “Waitlist” tags mean?
Limited slots means that mentor is filling up — still bookable, but worth grabbing a time soon. Waitlist means they’re fully booked for now; you can still register interest and we’ll reach out the moment a spot opens, with you first in line.
Times & details
Why do you ask for a few times instead of just one?
So we can lock one in without back-and-forth. You pick one to four times that suit you; we confirm the best fit — usually within a few hours — by WhatsApp and email. We never auto-book a slot your mentor can’t actually make.
Why do you ask for the subject, level, and curriculum?
So we bring the right specialist. “Secondary Maths” and “IB Higher Maths” are different worlds; a P5 English mentor and an A-Level Literature mentor are different people. A few taps here means the person on your call actually teaches your child’s syllabus.
Why do you ask for my address? Isn't the consult online?
It is online — the address is only so that if you go on to lessons, we can plan a mentor whose travel works for you. Tap Find next to the postal code and it fills your street in for you. It’s never shared, and it changes nothing about the consultation itself.
Something isn't accepting my details — what do I do?
The most common one: the address needs to be picked from the dropdown (or found via the postal code) so we have the exact spot — typing it freehand isn’t enough. If anything else sticks, don’t wrestle with it — message our concierge below and we’ll book you in by hand in a minute.
After you book
What happens once I submit?
We confirm one of your times — usually within a few hours — and send you the details by WhatsApp and email, including the video link. Your mentor gets everything you shared, so they arrive ready.
Where do I see or change my booking?
Everything lives in your consult hub. Tap “Already booked with us?” at the top of any page, sign in with the mobile number you booked with (we text you a code), and you can see your times, change them, add another child, or join a waitlist — all in one place.
Can I book for more than one child?
Yes. Book the first as normal, then from your hub tap “Book for a new child” — we already know you, so it’s quick.
